Doorstep issues... Right to park?

Right to Park???

 On the verge...
"Residents are right to complain about this issue." Ken agrees. "The grass verge is badly damaged due to the amount of vehicles which park here daily."

One resident spoke to Bob...
"It's a mess! Who owns this land and what can be done to stop people parking on it? You only have to look at the state of it. In the winter cars were sliding all over the place as wheels churned up the ground."

Another resident remarked: "Commuters have a huge car park yards away. Network Rail extended it and refurbished it. I appreciate it's expensive, but it's also a safe place for people to leave their vehicles. There's no need for this continual flouting of parking and the destruction of the verges..."

So what can be done about it?

First off is the problem of discovering precisely who owns the land.

One local resident explains. "I tried to do something about it because I'm fed up with seeing car's parked up there every day. I rang the council to complain. They said the land belonged to network rail, but when I contacted Network Rail... They said it was not their land!"

Bob and Ken are determined to get to the bottom of the matter.

To start, we contacted Network Rail. The land it seems is not theirs. Then we contacted Huntingdon District Council, they confirmed the land is not theirs either...

Cambridgeshire County Council have since confirmed that although they do not own the land, they are responsible for the management and maintenance of it. At least that's problem No:1 solved.

Problem No:2: Are any traffic regulation offenses being committed and if so... Who policies it?

Problem No:3: What can be done?
