Doorstep issues... A clear view...

Junction views...

Residents in Falcon Close & Longsands Road have raised the issue of junction visibility with Councillor Churchill. Vehicles parked too close and are impeding the view of vehicles wishing to exit from Falcon Close.

One resident explained: "I've been in touch with the police but because the cars are legally parked they say there is nothing that can be done. The junctions to these cul-de-sacs all have wide openings because of the bends in Longsands Road. I'm worried it will not be long before there is an accident. You can't see around the car's when pulling out."

The resident remarked: "You can understand why people want to avoid paying a vast sum every day to First Capitol Connect just to park to go to work. The St Neots car park is over £7 a day!"

Junction view from vehicle...
Investigation by Councillor Churchill has shown there is a huge discrepancy between the costs of using the car parks at Huntingdon (£5.50), St Neots (£7.70) and Sandy (£4.60). First Capitol Connect have been contacted on this very point. They explained that National Car Parks maintain and manage the facilities up and down the length of the First Capitol Connect line and they have 'no jurisdiction over the charges'. Ken does not agree.

"This situation is twofold. On the one hand yellow lines have been put into place to safeguard the children of Priory and Longsands School's from the dangers of parked vehicles, which a great many residents agree is necessary. On the other hand we have a responsibility to ensure that safety is maintained for residents who live adjacent to both schools."

Bob adds. "Ken, as County Councillor for this area has accomplished a great deal on the Longsands Road issues. I support both him and the residents, I do not accept accept that vehicles should be permitted to park in an unsafe manner so close to these junctions, it's an accident waiting to happen. I don't want to wait until a resident has an accident before something is done to improve the situation."

"We are both unhappy about the exorbitant cost of parking for St Neots rail station users. Why should this car park be more than £2 per day more expensive than Huntingdon or £3 more than Sandy?"

Ken will be undertaking further discussions with the relevant bodies regarding these issues, using these and other images taken as supporting evidence. Further information will be posted as soon as we have some progress.
