PRESS RELEASE

Councillors’ Ken Churchill and Bob Farrer formally announce their resignation from the Conservative groups at both District and County Councils, while both remain members of the Conservative Party at this time. Bob has for some time been an independent member at St Neots Town council

This decision has not been taken lightly or without a firm belief that it will be in the best interests of all within their respective wards and divisions.

They are supported by residents, many of whom have been in contact recently and who have been left feeling disgruntled by recent developments at Huntingdonshire District and Cambridgeshire County Councils.

Both Ken and Bob firmly believe, "local issues should be handled and decided upon by locally elected representatives supporting the majority view of the residents in that locale, not by members from other areas of the district or county, some solely on powers of delegation.”

“Residents will be asked to pay more for services, some of which will be reduced or even removed and will have to bear an increase in council tax.”

Both Ken and Bob believe that with this action they will, now be in an even better position to build on their achievements, continue to serve the residents even more effectively than before and publicly vote against policies which will, they believe, have a detrimental effect on the communities they serve.

Both welcome contact with any resident on this issue.
